Final Projects = Crunch Time
Hey guys! This week is going to be crazy! So many projects to complete. The great thing is though, that we all get a chance to redo our projects to get better grades. Some of my projects in the beginning of the semester were not so great, but now I know more about how to use all of the programs, so I can make them better. However, time management is the key, which all of us college students need to work on! On top of the projects, I have 20 more pieces left to glaze for ceramics, with 50 pieces all together! A lot of work, but the results are priceless. Working hard always pays off, and that is what I plan to do for this week!

End Of Semester Projects
Fall semester is coming to a close! SO many projects to do, and so little time! I know my blogs have been short lately, but I am working on my final portfolio for the end of the semester. I have to compile all of my Ad design work from this semester and put it all together in a binder and present it to my professors! On top of that I have been in the ceramics studio working on finishing all of pieces for the end of semester critique! Being busy is Definitely the game in college, but it is all worth it! Until next time, take care VPA bloggers!

Creating Fonts
Creating fonts is not such a simple thing. A lot is involved, and I was able to learn some cool things about creating fonts in my Ad Design principles class! There are lots of symbols involved, and this week we had the opportunity to pick a font and do a little research on it. We also had the chance to trace a font in illustrator using nothing but the rectangle and circle tool. That is right, no pen tool allowed! It was a difficult task, but I think I did a good job! I am curious to explore more ways to use font, and hopefully create a font!

Roll up your sleeves!
Hey all you VPA lovers, midterms are here! Well for us its more like projects, which is way better than any exam. My project due for this week is to re-create a logo for a major company, and I choose Mattel! I mean who wouldn't want to design a logo for a company that designs toys! I am still a kid at heart, so this project is definitely a favorite one. So far I have 5 different ideas, 30 thumbnails, and so many roughs to choose from. The hard part will be picking the one I like best, and I will let you know how this project goes in my next blog! Moving to ceramics, our midterm consists of drawings, yes, drawings! We got a chance to research up on come cool ceramic pieces, and hand render (copy) them into our sketchbook. With that we also started making some awesome mugs/cups, and I can't wait to see the result! Until next time, have fun you art lovers!

Racing the clock!
Hey everyone! Today is going to be a very busy day, as I have to do a full project before tomorrow morning, and I have a 9-6 workday! I have to literally race the clock if I want to get any work done! My project is to design two magazine spreads, with 10 thumbnails a piece, and 2 sketches. I have an idea of the spreads I am going to use, but before I do any of that I have to write 2 design briefs. I seriously need some superwoman strength today, so wish me luck, and until next time, have a good one, and hopefully a less stressful day than mine!!!

CERAMICS!
Hey guys, so its been a while since my last post, and I think it is time for an update! My ceramic wheel-throwing class is quite interesting, and my professor is very patient (especially with me)! The first couple weeks I learned the techniques of dry-throwing with all the different tools. This past week was all about wet-throwing, and it has definitely been a challenge! We had to make 20 cylinders, and it did not matter if they broke apart, he just wanted to see that we tried. So far, I am better at dry-throwing, but the semester is young! I cant wait to make some nice pieces and excel at wheel-throwing. I'll keep you guys updated on my latest adventures in VPA because the exploring never ends! Take care!

Ad Design and Sophomore year
Hello all! welcome to the inside scoop on all things VPA, here at Syracuse University! My name is Jaspreet Bains and I just started the lovely major of Advertising Design. It is difficult to say how my year will go, but the classes are intense and the professors are eager to teach us innovative design techniques! As far as projects go, we are starting off with the basics: composition, of shapes on a page, positive and negative space (in relation with words). Typeography is another hugeeee factor of advertising design. I am learning about all of the different fonts, believe me there are manyyyyy, and how certain fonts draw your attention more than others. So that is what is in store for me sophomore year! Yay! I am also taking an introduction to ceramics wheelthrowing class, which in my opinion, is the best stress-reliever! I love learning about all the techniques on the wheel and hopefully I will be great at it by the end of the semester! I hope you all are enjoing the insight from us VPA students, and I will let you know how I plan to conquer the art of wheelthrowing more in my next blog! Take care until next time!
