Washington D.C. and Maryland!
Hey guys! I just got back from a mini vacay in DC and Maryland, and it was nice to get away from the craziness of working. I got to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and I went to the Smithsonian. Of course I didn't have time to see all the exhibits but my favorite thing was when we got to go inside a dome with butterflies! They created a controlled environment where butterflies can live, and it was so cool because I was able to get some really neat pictures, and a bunch of them landed on my arm! I also got to visit my friend in Maryland, and he lives in the same neighborhood as Michael Jordan, so we drove by his house and got to see the outside! It's huge, it practically takes up an entire street! I hope I can squeeze in a couple more trips before the school year starts but I will keep you guys updated! =)

Vacations!
Hey guys! So I just got back from Cleveland, Ohio, and I have something very exciting to report! I saw Lebron James walking into a building! Of course there were a thousand people around because everyone knows he is meeting with a bunch of different teams because his contract is up. But regardless it was pretty cool, and then my cousin bought me and my sister a James jersey for 7 bucks! I guess his Cleveland jerseys are for sale because he is going to leave Cleveland. It was an exciting weekend; I also got to see my baby nephew for the first time (my cousin's son). He is absolutely adorable, and I wanted to just bring him home with me! I also went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and saw some pretty neat stuff like a Beatles tribute section, and Elvis' old purple car with white leather seats! It was in perfect condition, of course they probably restored it. In a couple of weeks I am headed to Washington D.C. and Maryland to meet up with some friends, and hopefully also do some more sight seeing. Ill keep you guys updated! =)

ZOOMDOUT
Hey guys! So I thought I would let you guys know that we just dropped our new t-shirts for Zoomdout! I am not sure if I mentioned it before, but I design t-shirts for a company called Zoomdout. It is a pretty controversial topic, but hey, that is what art is! It is a cannabis and psychedelic related t-shirt brand, and all of our t-shirts are pretty trippy. It is really fun for me to design all of these t-shirts, so far we have 4 different t-shirts for sale on zoomdout.com. I have made some pretty great cash on these t-shirts, and I'm excited to see how many shirts we can sell! Check out the website, and hopefully you guys like them! I am currently in the process of creating some new designs, that will hopefully be available in November. I'll let you guys know my progress throughout the summer, take care!

Epoch Advertising Internship!
YES! I got the internship and I started last Friday! It has only been two day and I already got to design a flier for the Wise Guys Comedy Club in downtown Syracuse. This is a great opportunity for me to show my creativity and to add a real life piece into my portfolio. So far all my work is projects that I did in class. So I am super excited to have this amazing opportunity! I have a pretty full week now, Mon, Wed, and Fri, I am at Epoch, and Tues, Thurs, I am here at the office! I also have a class at night, so this summer will be pretty busy. I can't wait to take a break and go to the city for my friend's college graduation party!

Internship interview!!
I am so excited to say that I finally got an interview for an advertising design internship at Epoch Advertising! It is tomorrow at 2pm, so wish me luck! I am really hoping they like my work and put me on board with them. Other than work, I had a great Memorial Day weekend! I sat by the pool and enjoyed some delicious BBQ. I am missing school a lot though, and hopefully planning a reunion soon with all of my close friends in the city! Take care, VPAers!

Summer is here!
Hey guys! I am back working in the office for the summer, so I will be able to keep you updated on what is going on. Right now, I am working here, and my summer art history class starts in June. I am also waiting on hearing from a couple of companies around syracuse for an internship. So far I sent my resume to Epoch Advertising, Chase Design, and I plan to send it to Eric Moore. So far Epoch has shown interest in me, so keep your fingers crossed! This is a great opportunity because I get to work right next to some very talented Ad. Designers! Of course I have to thank my Professors at Syracuse, because one of them was able to help with my resume and give me a good word at Epoch. Making connections here is great, because all of my professors are in the field they are teaching, so they know major players in Ad Design! Other than working hard this summer, I plan to take some trips including a few to New Jersey and Philly, as well as the Cayman Islands, and Myrtle Beach! Hopefully I can upload some pictures from my trips. Hope everyone's summer is going great so far, and I will let you know what is goin on for next week!

Classes are over!
Yes indeed, no more classes! However it is now finals week, and I have a lot of studying to do for my History of Illustration exam. I am so glad that I only have one exam this semester! The rest of my 'finals' were critiques of all my projects with my professors. I am really excited to say that I might be taking a Maymester class in New York City this month. I get to visit 10 advertising agencies, and get to work on some really cool projects, and meet some experts in the field! This is a great opportunity, so keep your fingers crossed for me! The rest of my summer I will be spending looking for some internships, and most likely working here as well! I hope all of you have an excellent summer, and I really hope you all will be joining us in the Fall! Take care, it has been a pleasure blogging, and I will try and keep you guys updated as much as I can on my summer adventures! =)

SASA show this weekend!
So, now that I am officially done with my history of illustration paper its time to have some fun! This weekend is the South Asian Student Association Spring cultural show! My dance team is performing, and I could not be happier with my team this year. Everyone is enthusiastic and ready to learn all of my choreography! We have an amazing show lined up this year, we have so many different dance teams performing, as well as a comedian. I am not sure if I mentioned that I am captain of the Syracuse Orange Bhangra team this year. Bhangra is a traditional Indian dance that originated from Punjab, and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Wish you guys could all make it out here or this event, but no worried, I will tell you all about it next week! Take care guys!

History of Illustration
Hey guys! I know it has been a while since I posted, I've been a little sick, but I am here to inform everyone of the lovely paper I have to write. Yes, a paper. You don't get off that easily being a design major. So for this 10 page paper, I have to do research on 22 different illustrators dating back to the 1900's. 2 illustrators per decade. Seeing as I haven't started yet and it is due next week, I have a few all-nighters ahead of me, especially because procrastination is fun! Haha but seriously, a word to the wise: if your professor tells you about a paper in the beginning of the semester, get on it! It will save you a lot of last minute frustration. The next time we talk I will be paper free, I cannot wait until then! Take care VPAers!

Poster about Change!
Hey guys! So my latest project was to create a poster advertising change. Or more so something the public can help to change. I decided to pick a very unique topic I came upon as I was researching: Beekeeping. Why you ask? Well bees are responsible for sustaining our life, and in more than a handful of states, beekeeping is illegal, including NYS. I created a poster to convince people to help in the battle to make beekeeping legal. My convincing point? Bees are responsible for 80% of all fruits and vegetables, and honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including water. If that is not a selling point, I don't know what is! The critique went really well, and now I must wait patiently for my grade.

SU's Best Dance Crew
Hey all! I thought I would take a break from chatting about school work and classes and take this opportunity to tell you guys about an awesome experience I get to be a part of! Tonight SU will be hosting SU's Best Dance Crew, and my dance team gets a chance to compete for a chance to win $500! I am really excited because I know we all worked so hard to perfect our dance, and I really feel like we have a good shot at winning this competition. For the first round we have to incorporate a plastic sled into our dance, which was a hard task at first, but I think we established a unique way to fit that in there. My dance team has really been a nice outlet away from my studies, so once you guys get to SU, try and find an extracurricular that is right for you, and I promise you will have a great time!

Ceramic artist Jen Allen!
Hey guys! Today I thought I would talk a little bit about what I am doing in my ceramics class! We studied an artist, and her name in Jen Allen. She came in to visit us, and did a demonstration on how she makes some of her pieces, needless to say it was really cool! She uses very soft colors for her glazes and she depicts such intricate detail to all of her pieces. She says it takes her longer to glaze than to actually make the piece. Our project in class is called "Being Jen Allen" So basically we are trying to create pieces like her. We are not copying her but we are adding some of her techniques to our own pieces, to create a whole new style! I am super psyched to be a part of this class, and I already started making some really cool pieces. Until next time, Peace, Love, and VPA! =)

Back at 'Cuse!
Hey guys! So its been a while since my last post, but I hope you guys had an awesome winter break! I know I did, I got a chance to go to India! It was an amazing experience, I got to see my family after such a long time, and I also got to go to the Golden Temple, Lotus Temple, and others. There is so much beautiful architecture to discover in India. I was mostly in northern India in Punjab, I have yet to explore the southern half! I also got to meet my great uncle who is 103 years old! While the experience was absolutely amazing, I am glad to be back home, school is another story... haha. Until next time, See ya future VPAers!
